Meet the People that make it all Happen...


Name:  Jon Carter

Role:    Chairman

About:  Jon Carter is the SRGT Chairman and all-round greyhound welfare warrior. Also a Director of Owlerton Stadium Jon has been fundamental in bringing about the development of the re-homing sanctuary at Wortley.

Name:  Tony Lunn

Role:    Deputy Chairman

           Committee Member

 

About:  Tony is a very knowledgable man as he ran the Sheffield branch of the Retired Greyhound Trust single handedly for many years.

Name:  Lynda Cattlin

Role:    Home Finder

 

About:  Lynda's mission is to home as many of our greyhounds as possible each month. Her job starts in meeting people who are interested in homing, and following vetting and selecting an appropriate greyhound for each person. She is on hand to lend support in the early stages of the new relationship.

Name: Mel Shipman

Role: Kennel Hand

 

About: Mel is fulltime and has been with us since May 2008, but has been actively involved in animal care for years. Her 'zoo' at home is huge and not only is Mel knowledgable about greyhounds - tortoises, labradors, rats and cats are included in her expertise. Mel is also involved in our fund-raising activities and regularly does Beat The Book at the stadium.

Name:   Phil Stent

Role:      Weekend kennel hand

 

About:   Apart from working weekends at the kennel Phil is a very enthusiastic fund raiser for the R.G.T and can be found selling tip sheets for the trust on Tuesday and Saturday evenings, and is the wisdom behind Phils fancies.  He is the person to ask if you fancy a flutter.

 

Phil would like it to be known that his possesses his own real teeth and real hair.

 Name: Julie Hollin

 Role: Kennel Hand

 

About: Julie has been a supporter of Sheffield Retired Greyhounds and a voluntary walker for some time now. Fresh from the Steve Erwin animal centre ( R.I.P ) Julie has many tallents , but large reptiles are her specialty.

Name: Helen Collins

 

Role: Treasurer

 

About: Helen is responsible for all cash and stock accounting. She's the one clutching a pen and a calculator and usually asking you for money!

Role:    Secretary to the Committee

About:  Vicky contributed hugely by covering general administration for the Sheffield RGT. Vicky is still actively involved with Sheffield Retired Greyhounds when she can find any free time from her busy job in the marketing department at the Stadium.

Name:    Carol Senior

About:    Carol has worked in kennels and at the stadium for many years.   She has paraded the Greyhounds and now works in the race office.

Name: Graham Furness

About: Graham has been involved with Sheffield Retired Greyhounds for quite a while. He has assisted in kennels on many occasions, regularly walks our greyhounds with his wife Jacqui and even helps out with Beat the Book at the Stadium. A man of many talents  - we're very glad that he's agreed to be on our committee: thank you Graham.

About: Barbara has been involved with Sheffield Retired Greyhounds for some time now and is very active on the fund-raising front. Not only does Barbara help with Beat the Book: she's been invaluable this summer with the hard work and time she's spent out with the R.G.T trailer at the shows. Helping her out on the trailer has been her own retired greyhound: the delightful Ziggy.
